Updating more than 1 website

If you were the webmaster for more than 1 website connected to the subject of fshers would you be impartial in the updating and promotion of those sites?

I think if the person didn’t own either one and was quite happy with it then it wouldn’t be a problem.

Unfortunately I was approached to do this for another fsh website who wanted a total redevelopment. While I think everything would have been ok I’m sure there would be some cases where a conflict of interest would happen, and in these cases fshers.co.uk would always win.

Maybe it’s best to withdraw the offer to update their site for them.

Blog Pressure

Having a blog to update presents a number of issues for me.

- Finding something interesting to write about and then writing about it

- having the discipline to regularly update

- keeping topics with the range of the blog. For this I mean I can’t talk about football or politics on this particular blog because thats not what it’s here for. This blog lives to support the fshers.co.uk site and shouldn’t really be used as a rambling area for me. Ideally for that I have to use my own blog.

- Is the blog here for me to know about or do I hope other people see it and read my ramblings?

- Do I want people to read my ramblings? Of course if the answer is no then why have a blog in the first place.

Ok, I’ve convinced myself that I’ll update the blog more often.

updates

I have to admit to being crap at updating this blog.

When I started it I had planned so many wonderful things to write about ranging from our reliance on others and pieces of equipment, about how people see us, about how we’re treated by others and society in general. And of course I haven’t done any of these things which I’m afraid to say is typical of me and my attitude to things in general.

Even if I make a promise of changing this and adding things to the blog regularly I know I won’t so it would be an entirely empty statement.

I might try, we’ll see.

Chat Room Summary

Well the chat room session seemed to be a roaring success. A good time was had by all.

the following people turned up for a chat : Tommy, TraceyAnne, JJ, Kat, Marty, Shelley, Paul, Mytubelo.

Hopefully Sam and Liz will make the next one and also a few other will as well.

It shows that the decision to make the website was a good one. The forum is getting busier and the topics being cover are more wide ranging. Its all good as far as I can see.

First Chat Night

the plan is to have the first chat night on fshers.co.uk on 4th July – which is next Wednesday (4th july)

The software will be installed for the chat system to work, so hopefully this will work no problem but I guess time will tell what happens.

MD Campaign Website

We’ve been mentioned in the main MD Campaign website.

The website is mentioned within the main FSH section on the site, and also within the news section. Links are provided through to the website.

This is all good stuff. It’s important that people who go to the main site are getting passed through to these additional sources of information. The main site can’t provide specialist information about each of the conditions, only a range of general information.

Again its all good stuff.

Precious Websites

Why are people so precious about their website, and in particularly ones about FSH MD.

There are a few out there who just don’t seem to want the world to have more than 1 FSH website. To be fair this is an American thing, or at least seems to be. Posts discussing other sites just don’t get to where they should be because its a moderated email system. How can information be shared if people can’t be directed to that information?

Personally I don’t understand it. We’re not in competition with each other, its not a popularity competition so why do people always insist on making it one?
